OVERVIEW

Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village & Museum is the first authentic Maasai Boma and museum in Tanzania with overnight facilities. Located in the West Kilimanjaro Maasailand, about 74 km from Moshi, it offers a unique opportunity to experience real Maasai culture and traditions.

During your visit, you will gain insight into the daily life of the Maasai people, their customs, and their connection with nature and wildlife. The income from your visit directly supports local Maasai families by contributing to water supply, food, employment, healthcare, and education.

All Maasai jewelry available for purchase is handmade by local Maasai women from nearby villages. The tours and walking safaris are led by experienced English-speaking Maasai guides, ensuring an authentic and informative experience.

Itinerary

Morning:
You will be picked up from your hotel in Moshi at 09:00 AM and transferred to Olpopongi Maasai Cultural Village & Museum. The drive takes approximately 1.5 hours through scenic landscapes.


Midday:
Upon arrival, you will enjoy a guided tour of the Maasai village and museum, where you will learn about Maasai culture, traditions, and way of life.

You will also take part in a short walking safari, where Maasai guides will share their traditional hunting techniques and knowledge of natural medicines.


Afternoon:
A traditional Maasai lunch will be prepared and served for you. After lunch, you will have some time to relax and interact further with the local community.

Later in the afternoon, you will begin your drive back to Moshi, where the tour ends at your hotel.
